School Employees Protest Unfair Treatment

As the school year drew to a close, employees of the Dallas Independent School District found out that the School Board was planning to scuttle planned raises and then go even further toward cutting employee benefits. Longevity pay was to be sacrificed, along with any semblance of appreciation for the daily sacrifices that school employees make.

Alliance/AFT, the largest single union local in Texas, was quick to respond. On June 4, hundreds of them lined up outside Roosevelt High School at 525 Bonnie View in Oak Cliff. Led by President Aimee Bolender, they carried out a silent picket that was covered by most of the newspersons in the area. More activities are in the works!
