Jobs with Justice Pushes Voter Registration
North Texas Jobs with Justice is part of a national 501(c)3 tax-exempt
organization, and consequently cannot endorse candidates in elections. They
can and do, however, push issues and encourage people to vote. As August began,
several activities had already taken place.
On KNON radio on August 6, Doug Taylor of the People's Empowerment
Project outlined some of the ways that individuals and organizations can join
the extraordinary wave of voter registration activities. He is actually available
to help groups launch their efforts. For counties outside Dallas, Taylor can
recommend the helpful organizations.
Taylor is an expert on electoral work, voter registration, and
get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts.
For Jobs with Justice, the number one legislative priority is
to get the Employee Free Choice Act passed in the next Congress. The act would
make it possible to start organizing new unions. If working people expect to
see their power increase instead of diminishing, they need to get active as
soon as possible.
