Fair Trade Fight Continues

Lesley Ramsey of Fair Trade Watch in Austin visited Dallas briefly on December 15 for a fund raiser. In a recording for KNON radio, she said that the FTAA (Free Trade Area of the Americas) was stopped dead for the time being. However, a good many so-called "trade agreements" still threaten our own economy and those of others. Leaders of the Autoworkers union, for example, are very concerned about a pending agreement with Thailand, where many pickup trucks are made for export.

Lesley Ramsey is pictured at the Tempest Tea Fundraiser for Texas Fair Trade Coalition at Tempest Tea, 5600 West Lovers Lane, #111. The money raised from donations will help the Texas Fair Trade Coalition in its continuing efforts to promote democracy and sustainable development in trade policy—in Texas and worldwide. Ramsey may be back in Dallas for the Jobs with Justice meeting at 6:30 PM on January 10 at 2218 E Main in Grand Prairie.
