Pitch In for Peace!

Reverend Eric Folkerith has agreed to perform at the fund raiser and celebration for people going to Washington DC for the September 24 national anti-war march. He will appear on September 12 at the Nodding Dog Coffee Shop in the Bishop Street Arts District, 500 N Bishop Ave Dallas TX, 75208. The event lasts from 7 to 9 PM. Reverend Folkerith's new song, "Chapel Hill Road," recounts the courageous stand taken by Cindy Sheehan at "Camp Casey" near Crawford, Texas, this summer.

As of Labor Day, we have about 40 North Texans signed up to go to Washington. Only a few can afford air fare, and ground transportation is not much cheaper. 24 of our volunteers need some kind of financial assistance to make the trip. The sooner the money arrives at the Dallas Peace Center, the sooner we can make commitments for a big North Texas delegation. Send tax deductible donations to the DPC at 4301 Bryan # 202, Dallas, TX 75204-8147. Mark checks "For DC" unless you prefer your donation go into the DPC's general fund. We are also looking for vehicles that can make the 25-hour trip to DC.

Those who would like to go can send their information to the DPC or to me. Include contact info, special travel needs, and whether or not you have the estimated $200 travel money for ground transportation. If you have less than, $200, include the amount you have. Planning meetings occur each Tuesday evening at 7 PM at the DPC; all are welcome.

The September 12 reception will occur as the need for funding becomes critical, because travel arrangements must be made in advance. Please try to get donations in before then. Let's make the September 12 event more of a celebration than a fund-raiser! The Nodding Dog is easy to find from downtown Dallas. Take Houston Street south across the river. It changes names into Zang. Stay on Zang one block past Davis, then turn right into the Bishop Arts District. Or, call the Nodding Dog at 214-941-1166 for directions.
