Need More Activities? Jobs with Justice Gets Them!

The regular second-Wednsday Jobs with Justice meeting took up Health Care first. Proposal to create a statewide health care rally in Austin on July 12, providing we can find authoritative statewide organization(s) to partner with. Motion passed. If we can't do a statewide action, we must come up with something here around that time. It's a national campaign.

Jobs with Justice is campaigning nationwide to get 1,000,000 signatures for the Employee Free Choice Act. We can do that while we are registering voters. We have had some outreach from a member of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) with the idea of working together. Contact: kkaiwi@garlandISD.net

Our group of JwJ activists held a general discussion on whether or not North Texas Jobs with Justice needs a facility of our own. We reviewed our 18-year history and recalled that we have always helped progressive organizations when called upon. We maintain an effective information service on workers' issues. We cross-pollinate the movement. We take on important issues with whatever partners we can find.

We're grateful to JASON ROBERSON, reporter for the Dallas Morning News for his article revealing that hospital administrators are getting union-busting advice against their nurses. Roberson wrote, "In the seminar, managers were advised to befriend nurses by learning the names of their children and to immediately fire those who are disruptive and complain." First time we've heard that they intend to discharge our children! :)

Love & solidarity
